It is estimated by the University of Nebraska Extension Service that there are some 4,000 4H youth in Nebraska that have horses but do not participate in showing and are without an organized equine activity.
In 2013 the UNL Extension Service adopted the AQHA Trail Challenge Program to fill that gap.
With the assistance of the University's Program Director Dr Lena Cottle and Dr Kathy Anderson postcards were designed for mass mailing purposes and a web site was created to promote the program.

Introductory workshops and clinics are also being conducted across Nebraska to introduce the program to the 4H community.
The program is designed to be Fun - Educational - and Safe. Volunteers are needed to assist with facilitating these events, building obstacles, judging and teaching horsemanship by building partnerships.
NOTE: Since AQHA decided to drop the Trail Challenge and Trail Ride Programs the NQHA Board voted to pick up the gauntlet and continue the program in Nebraska.
If you think your 4H group would like to host a workshop or clinic contact Larry O. Voecks 402-649-4474 or lvjv3@outlook.com
